Top 40 Feel-good and Happy Pop Songs

Some songs just make us happy, or feel good, even if we don't want to admit it. These are often silly, or even bubblegum pop songs, but we love them anyway. Feel-good songs are guilty pleasures. Here are the top 40 Feel-good songs of all time at Top2040:

1 – Daydream Believer by the Monkees topped the charts in 1968 and you can't turn it off once it starts. Infectious fun and happy song.


2 – Mmmpop (1996) by Hanson. Even my metal-head friends liked this song (for a while).

3 – Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles, George Harrison's immortal upbeat tune, alongside “We Can Work it Out”.

4 – I Think I Love You by the Partridge Family C'mon Get Happy! #1 in 1970-71. They had a string of feel-good hits, including “Summer Days” and “Bandala.”

5 – Sugar Sugar by the Archies, the #1 song of 1969 … it's like syrup, and always brings a smile.

6 – Popcorn (1972) by Hot Butter, one of the happiest instrumentals ever. Remade in the 90s in dozens of techno remixes, including the crazy frog. Guaranteed mood booster.



7 – Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees, we'd like to say we hate it, but the beat goes on.

8 – Beach Baby by The First Class

9 – Saturday Night (1976) beat-driven hit from the Bay City Rollers, one hit wonder.

10 – Simon Says (1969) by the 1910 Fruitgum Company

11– Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede

12 – I've Got Something On My Mind (1968) by the Left Banke, the band who brought us the immortal and beautiful “Walk Away Renee.”

13 – Stacy's Mom (2003) by Fountains of Wayne

14 – Heartbeat, It's a Lovebeat (1973) by the DeFranco Family.  Certainly guaranteed to make you smile (and maybe laugh), but it's good for the soul.



15 – Cruel Summer (1984) by Bananarama, the spunky beat still works like sunshine!

16 – Yummy Yummy Yummy (1968) by Ohio Express

17 – Have You Ever Been Mellow (1975) by Olivia Newton John

18 – Midnight Confession by the Grass Roots, who also recorded Baby Hold On

19 – Fox on the Run (1975) by the Sweet, and include “Little Willy” too.

20 – Vacation (1982) by the Go Go's

21 – Hands Up! (2012) by 2PM (Korean pop band). Not deep, but they look like they're having fun.

Most of the 60s bubblegum and psychedelic songs could be added to the list. Few like to admit it, but we love 'em. We put our Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin albums in the front, and hide the Monkees and Partridge Family way in the back. It's OK, we all do it.
