The sun peeking through: it means we need a mix CD of our favorite summer songs. Here are some tunes to play while tanning and watching the kids swim, slide, swing or just hop through the sprinkler in the back yard. These are the top 40 hit songs about summer from Top2040:
1 - Summer in the City (1966) by the Lovin' Spoonful, the most unforgettable summer song.
2 - Cruel Summer (1984) Bananarama, great beat that even sounds like summer, hard not to love it.
3 - School's Out by Alice Cooper, the anthem for every "first day" of summer.
4 - Ho! Summer (2009) by Tackey & Tsubasa, a popular Japanese duo spun this fast upbeat song. If you
can find the original MV, it's hysterically funny; but it's been removed from almost all video sites on the net. Look around and search - it pops up once in a while.

6 - Summertime Blues performed by Blue Cheer in 1968, Bruce Springsteen in 1978, performed by Rush

7 - Summer Days (1971) by the Partridge Family, you laugh but this is a great summer song!
8 - Bicycle Race (1978) by Queen
9 - Summertime (1969) Janis Joplin, Big Brother & the Holding Company
10 - Songs from the Wood (1978) by Jethro Tull, a band with many great summer songs, including Moths and Velvet Green. "Summerday Sands," also fits well here.
11 - Summertime (2007) Bon Jovi banged out a pretty good summer song with this track.
12 - Summer Breeze (1972) by Seals & Crofts, a smooth and mellow summer night song.
13 - Indian Summer (1967) by the Doors, along with Summer's Almost Gone, Love Street and Waiting for the Sun. The Doors loves summertime.
14 - This is the Summertime by NEWS, a very popular J-pop band known everywhere except the xenophobic and linguistically challenged USA. Give 'em a try - this song is a lot of fun!
